Buchempfehlungen Isländische Magie

Beitrag von Boduos »

Hallo Forum.

Icelandic Magic: Practical Secrets of the Northern Grimoires (Englisch)
Stephen E. Flowers Ph.D.

Taschenbuch: 160 Seiten
Verlag: Inner Traditions; Auflage: 1 (30. Januar 2016)
Sprache: Englisch
ISBN-10: 1620554054
ISBN-13: 978-1620554050
Größe und/oder Gewicht: 15,2 x 1 x 22,9 cm
“Icelandic Magic is an exciting new expansion that goes far beyond Flowers’s previous Galdrabók. Much more than a presentation of historical grimoire material, Flowers goes on to identify the key components of the techniques and show readers how to construct their own workings in a traditional manner. Icelandic Magic explores both the inner and outer nature of galdor, and of magic in general, to give the reader the tools for gaining knowledge, wisdom, and self-transformation.” (Alice Karlsdóttir, author of Norse Goddess Magic)

Amazon hat geschrieben:Runes are the ancient Norse alphabet used for communication, divination, and magical work. In Futhark, American runologist Edred Thorsson introduces readers to the 24 runes of the Elder Futhark, their definitions, and mystic properties.

The runic system of magic and mysticism is one of the most powerful forms of metaphysical thought available to the Western world. This bestselling classic book on Runes continues to be required reading for those who seek true knowledge of the mystery of the Runes.

Thorsson's presentation of this powerful system is lucid and profound and provides a valuable tool for spiritual transformation and selfdevelopment.

Icelandic Magic - Aims, tools and techniques of the Icelandic sorcerers (Englisch)
Christopher Alan Smith

Taschenbuch: 220 Seiten
Verlag: Avalonia; Auflage: Hardback ed. (13. September 2015)
Sprache: Englisch
ISBN-10: 1905297939
ISBN-13: 978-1905297931
Größe und/oder Gewicht: 15,6 x 1,3 x 23,4 cm
In this unprecedented work, the author Christopher A. Smith has meticulously studied no less than 6 original Icelandic manuscripts dating from 1500 to 1860 to extract a picture of the aims, tools and techniques of Icelandic sorcerers. Set against the context of the harsh economic, social and environmental conditions of this North Atlantic island, the book gives a detailed account of the types of spells that were used and the motivations behind them. Hundreds of items from the six books of magic have been analysed to present the reader with a clear idea of the methods that were used, including incantation, invocation of deities and use of the enigmatic magical staves (galdrastafir). Furthermore, the book goes into great detail concerning the physical tools used by magicians and the kinds of objects that might have been found in a sorcerer's 'toolbox'. The book is illustrated throughout with images from the original manuscripts. Although it is not intended by any means as a book of instruction, one chapter does focus on workings of certain types and gives suggestions for those brave enough to try them out. All in all, this work will be an indispensable item for anyone interested in the history of magic in general and of Icelandic magic in particular.

This is followed by the translation of the Galdrabok itself with copious explanatory notes. There are also a number of appendices which contain magical material from other Icelandic books of magic as well as spells from other Germanic areas."

danke für diese Klarstellung, Kaiman. :)
